It can be a difficult time at the moment, feeling comfortable enough to leave the house and venture to a store in such unprecedented times. There is no denying that I felt a little bit nervous about my first trip into society for over twelve weeks. I knew that we needed to start getting things ready for our baby, however this was overshadowed at times by anxious thoughts: going into a store that could be full of people, wandering around, not respecting the two-meter rule could be quite nerve wracking. Which is why I was overjoyed when I spotted the Mamas & Papas Personal Shopping Experience. Instantly I felt comfortable. I saw on their website that they are complying with the current government guidelines on health and safety within the store, yet I would be able to receive specialist guidance and support. Where do I sign up?
Making the appointment was easy. There are just a few details to fill in, including the date you wanted to arrive at the store. This was instantly confirmed by the email address I had provided: so convenient.
The day before our visit, one of the personal shopping experts gave me a call to find out what we were interested in looking at. She explained that they wanted to get everything ready for us in our private shopping experience space. This meant we could easily access the products and limit our exposure to other customers. During the call, I explained that we were interested in looking at pushchairs and bedside cots, but there may be other things we would be keen to look at.
First impressions
Upon arrival, we walked into the store which had signs on the floor stating the 2-meter distancing rule. it looked like these signs had been strategically placed across the floor and where the queue was forming at the till points. Towards the back of the shop was the private Personal Shopping Room. The space was beautifully set out, with a large screen showcasing products, a welcoming, comfortable sofa and chair, as well as all of the products we had asked to see. On the table was a bottle of hand sanitiser, a sign explaining about the 2-meter rule as well as the cleanliness of the products before and after a personal shop, this was all very reassuring and calming.
Myself and my partner were then introduced to Sophie, who offered us a bottle of water and began to explain what was going to happen during the process.
Pushchairs
The first item we looked at was the pushchair. Sophie went through everything we needed to know about the Ocarro pushchair in Grey Mist. She talked us through the features and how it worked. She was then kind enough to take this to our car to test it, to see if it fit in the boot. We knew that we liked this pushchair before arriving. However, Sophie was brilliant at explaining everything in so much detail, she had us sold. Although we loved the Grey Mist, we have decided to go for the same product but in navy. Which is equally as stunning.
Bedside crib
The next item we asked to see was the Chicco Next To Me Magic Slide sleeping crib , and the Snuzpod. Myself and my partner could not decide which product we initially wanted, as we did not know the benefits to either. From speaking to Sophie and going through how they both worked, we decided on the Chicco Next To Me. It had everything we are looking for. It was great to see the different options and discuss comparisons. Having that personal 1-1 experience really helped us make that decision.
Cot bed mattress
The last item we looked at was the codbed mattress. We had previously purchased our furniture through the personal shopping experience at home a few weeks earlier. It was great to look at those final bits in store. As this is our first baby, we were not sure what to get. Sophie talked us through the benefits of each of the mattresses. We decided to go ahead with the luxury twin spring Cotbed Mattress. This is the more expensive product, although there is currently an offer on; it makes it a really good price for a quality item. There are lots of other different options for you to pick from, which you can find here.
In summary
We had a wonderful shopping experience at Mamas & Papas. It is reassuring to know that they are adhering to the government guidelines.
Thank you to Mamas & Papas for a wonderful shopping experience. Plus a special thanks to Sophie for being so knowledgeable and making us both feel incredibly comfortable. I will certainly be using both instore and at home personal services in the future and will be recommending it to friends and family.
