The sun does come out and the temperatures do rise in the UK – albeit not that often. Which means that we’re not always prepared for Summer family days out. Make sure you’re ready to head to the beach/ park/ family festival at a moment’s notice, by keeping the following must-haves on standby.
For longer days out always pack a changing bag with insulated bottle section and changing mat included, so you can feed them and change the on the go. Our Ocarro Luxe Changing Backpack - Taupe looks great in this summery nude shade.
For road trips, this car seat organiser is a life-saver. Keep their iPad, drinks, favourite toys and snacks organised and within easy reach. LittleLife Car Seat Organiser
If the journey’s going to be long consider a car window cover, to protect your little one from the glare and heat of the sun. They’ll help with encouraging car naps too. Folding Sunshade 2 Pack
Our towelling hooded ponchos are fun to wear (kids love the 3D detail and bright colours); super soft; perfect for drying them off and keeping them warm and cosy after a dip at the seaside. Plus, they come in sizes from newborn right through to 3 years. Flower Hood Towel Poncho and 3D Shark Hood Towel Poncho
A stylish bucket hat will keep them cool and protected under the sun’s rays. We love the stylish shape and nautical stripes of this Chambray striped bucket hat. And it’s on sale right now too. Or go for a splash-proof swim hat which offers extra sun-protection to the back of their neck. Lemon Swim Hat
Our brand-new stroller Libro - which has a wider, higher seat, designed so toddlers can spread out and get a better view - is your best friend for Summer days out with kids. Firstly, it folds up ultra-slim, so, it will happily slide into that tight gap in your jam-packed car boot. It’s super-lightweight (just 7kg) so when your seaside trip involves cobbled steps you can sling it over your shoulder to carry it.
Its extra-spacious basket has room for all the discarded waterproofs/ buckets and spades/ sun creams (which handily will stay within easy reach) and no doubt you’ll find its ventilated XL hood with all-weather protection handy come rain or shine.
And not forgetting…
Staying hydrated and, ok, a little caffeinated is a parenting pre-requisite. When you’ve got your hands full (literally) you’ll appreciate this handy cup holder for your iced latte.

Summer parenting hacks every parent should know
Keep them cool – while keeping your own cool – with our top tips for hotter days.
1. Put teethers in the freezer
Pop a couple of teething rings or toys in the freezer for a few hours before you head out, then let them enjoy the cooling, calming sensation.
2. Don’t take any chances with British weather
Keep both a parasol AND a pushchair rain-cover in your car boot, at all times. That way wherever your day trip takes you, if the weather suddenly switches, you’ll be prepared. Our parasols come with UPF 50+ fabric so they’re incredibly protective from harmful UV rays. It’s adjustable so you can change its position and the quick-release button means you can remove it in one click.
3. Get rid of sand easily
No parent likes to bring the beach home with them, but sadly your little ones didn’t get the memo. Talcum powder is brilliant for getting sand off toes – simply sprinkle over sandy feet and the sand will easily brush off.
Plus, did you know? We’ve added a super-handy drain-hole feature to the storage basket on our Ocarro pushchair. Which means you can easily get rid of pesky sand/dirt/crumbs easily.
There you have it – all the must-haves and must-do’s for keeping the whole family happy on a Summer day out. Just add snacks, suncream, a picnic blanket and plenty of wet wipes and you’re good to go.
With sunny days and light nights incoming, we're getting you ready for a summer of making memories. Get their summer wardrobe sorted.
