5 DIY Father's Day Gifts

With Father’s Day on its way, lockdown measures still in place and the majority of schools still closed, it’s the perfect time for you and your little ones to get creative! Below We've curated a list of some of our favourite DIY Father’s Day gifts that dad will love and will help keep your children entertained.

Brownies

Brownies are the best – fact. And there’s no better way of saying Happy Father’s Day than a fresh batch of gooey, chocolatey goodness! We recommend our Parent Approved Panellists Hollie’s recipe, they’re super easy to make and are ridiculously good…

Once your brownies have cooled, you can take this opportunity to let your little ones go wild with the toppings and the sprinkles. Let them personalise dad’s brownies, whilst you can sit back with a cuppa.

Father's Day Picnic

Just because restaurants and cafés are closed – that doesn’t mean dad can’t be treated to a special Father’s Day meal. This is the perfect opportunity to surprise him with those delicious brownies too!

Grab your picnic blanket, some sandwiches and dad’s favourite picnic treats and head out into the garden or your nearest park. You could even take a football or frisbee to help entertain the little ones. It's also a great opportunity to give them some time to enjoy some free play with dad.

Framed Photo

This one may seem like a bit of an obvious one, but a framed photo is the most perfect personalised gift that dad will cherish forever! So, grab some paint and your favourite family picture - it's time for some Father's Day crafts!

Pick your favourite photo of your family and a white uncoated picture frame. Remove the glass and grab your acrylic or wood paint and let your little one paint away, letting the inner artist in them unleash itself. Make sure you lay out a splash mat on the surface – this could get a little messy!

Once the frame has thoroughly dried, if you’re feeling fancy you can add a thin coat of varnish. If not, add the glass and picture back into the frame. You could even buy some miniature picture frame bunting and add that one for extra effect. Once finished, wrap it in your favourite wrapping paper ready for Sunday!

Reasons Why Jar

This Father’s Day gift is the perfect way to help dad feel the love. Thoroughly clean an old jam jar and grab some lolly pop sticks – these can be natural or multi-coloured. A colour to represent messages from each little one! Next, get them to write down reasons they love their dad. This can be anything from giving the best cuddles to fixing broken toys. Add the lolly sticks into the jar, screw the lid on and finish with a hand tied bow.

Movie Night Box

Family time is one of the best Father’s Day presents a dad could wish for! Does anything sound much better than a cosy night in on the sofa, cuddled up to your little ones? We thought not.

Grab a wicker basket or an old shoe box that you have lying around. You can let your little ones go wild and decorate this with wrapping paper, bows, stickers and dare we say glitter if needs be. Next, nip to your local shop. Grab a couple of your family favourite movie night treats and add them into dad’s movie night box. Put on your pyjamas, grab your favourite blankets and let the cosiest movie night commence…
