We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Tommy’s, the UK’s leading pregnancy charity. Parents and parents-to-be are at the heart of everything we do and, heartbreakingly, every day we receive a call or a visit into one of our stores from a parent (or relative of a parent) who has sadly experienced pregnancy or baby loss. Through our partnership we can now offer more support to our community to navigate this difficult time.
Who are Tommy’s?
Tommy’s provide expert information and support throughout the pregnancy journey. Working with communities and partners like us, they challenge inequalities and campaign for change to make pregnancy and birth safer for all. Did you know that half of adults in the UK have experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy or baby loss, or know someone who has? That’s 1 in 2 people. Tommy’s research is here to change that.
How can Tommy’s support you?
As well as funding ground-breaking research into the causes, and treatments for, pregnancy complications and loss, they provide specialist care for families at their clinics, research centres and across the NHS.
They also provide expert, midwife-led support and advice to any expectant parent – before or during pregnancy - as well as support if you have experienced pregnancy loss, are pregnant after a loss, or if you’re going through pregnancy complications.
Tommy’s Midwives can be reached via the Tommy’s Midwives’ Helpline, which the team run in addition to working for the NHS. These experienced and expert midwives have all had extra training in specialist subjects, including pregnancy after loss; mental health; miscarriage; stillbirth; ectopic pregnancy; molar pregnancy and termination for medical reasons, all of which they bring to the helpline.
How can you access advice and support from Tommy’s?
The Tommy’s Midwives’ Helpline number is 0800 0147 800. It’s a freephone line open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. If you’d prefer, you can also email Tommy’s Midwives by contacting [email protected]. They also have a specialist helpline for Black and Black Mixed-Heritage women and birthing people, because this group has a higher risk of pregnancy complications and loss.
